What and how do you want to learn?

Many people who live full lives would consider themselves life-long learners. Most communities have many different learning opportunities available both formally and informally. Highschools, colleges, and universities are obvious but there are so many other opportunities. Community centres, libraries, non-profit groups or companies offer learning opportunities. You can also consider individual teachers or mentors to learn new skills. The possibilities are endless.

Policies and Positions

BDACI supports people in every phase of their learning journey including: school-age learning; learning while in transition; and lifelong learning.

BDACI is also currently a member of the Special Education Advisory Committee. The role of this committee (SEAC) is to collaborate and offer advice to local school boards regarding the special education budget and the Special Education Plan for the board. The SEAC is made up of representatives from local provincial organizations and Community Living Ontario has a seat on each SEAC board. The committee’s purpose is to further the interests and well-being of exceptional students within the education system. SEAC members gather monthly and can participate in making recommendations to their local school board regarding any matter that may have an impact on the establishment, development, and delivery of special education programs and services for exceptional students. As a member of Community Living Ontario, BDACI can request Community Living Ontario’s support in advocating at SEAC meetings.

Are you interested in learning more about the SEAC or becoming involved? Did you know that BDACI also has an Education Committee?
